Pinkletink Crosby Cat Half Hull 1932
Since the 18th century it has been customary for
shipwrights to fashion a half-model of a ship prior to construction.
Handcrafted forms similar to these enabled the builder to study and perfect the
hull design before a complete set of plans were drawn. These models were not
only functional but were often used to adorn the walls of the shipyard offices.
We are offering a fine example of a wooden half hull model of
the 1932 Herbert Crosby Cat Boat “Pinkletink”. Cats are truly American boats
evolving out of the northeast Atlantic with masts well forward and a generous
beam for a small boat. Cats have been work boats, day sailors and racers. The
full sized “Pinkletink” is 22’ and the last time we checked was also for sale
at: http://old.catboats.org for $35,000
Dimensions:
33" L x 10" H x 6" W
