International One Design 1936
The International One Design racing class was conceived by
Cornelius Shields and designed by Bjarne Aas. The first boats were built by Aas
in Norway and delivered to New York's Long Island Sound in 1936. They were
created to fill the need for a one design class that could be raced in
international competition without having to ship boats around the world. There
are currently 10 active fleets in 5 countries.
This
model was designed to mimic the original boat with canvas deck and varnished
topsides. Complete with accurate rigging and the IOD logo screen-printed on the
sail. This model has dark blue topsides and red bottom paint. We can also
special order this model with white topsides/red bottom paint, burgundy/blue
hull, or varnished/white hull.
